Syria: The new Syrian cabinet – the first indication of Bashar al-Assads agenda, reformist or not?

According to the Syrian state news agency SANA the cabinet of Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Otri tended its resignation, which was accepted by President Bashar al-Assad. A spokesperson from the Ministry of Information stated that a new cabinet should be named in a few hours

This new cabinet will give us the first indication on Bashar al-Assads agenda. If the cabinet contains virtually the same individuals or a similar or higher number of Baath members, then that would be a very bad signs for what is to come out of tomorrows speech and on any changes to Syrian law etc. If al-Aassad on the other hand name a non-baathist Prime Minister (such as Abdullah al-Dardari) and then this might mean that he or she will be tasked with the formation of a reformist-bent government; al-Asaad may yet confound his critics and surprise his supporters.
